Dublin Fire Brigade save pair from drowning in daring Liffey rescue

Two people were rescued from River Liffey in Dublin city centre this afternoon.

The alarm was raised after a person was spotted in the river near O’Connell Bridge shortly before 4 pm.

Dublin Fire Brigade crew rushed to the scene and deployed a rescue boat which is moored on the Liffey.

Two people were pulled to safety by the brave crew and were assessed by paramedics.

A Dublin City Council spokesperson said: “Dublin Fire Brigade were called to reports of a person in the River Liffey near O’Connell Bridge shortly before 4pm today.

“A full response was mobilised including our rescue boat which is moored on the River Liffey. Two people were taken from the water by the boat crew and were assessed by paramedics.”
