A cafe in Malahide has slammed groups of people for leaving large amounts of litter around their premises, saying that they have installed security cameras in an attempt to combat the issue.
Taste of The Med, which is located on Main Street in Malahide, is known for serving a variety of breakfast and lunch dishes.
Taking to social media last week, the bosses posted a video of piles of litter dotted around the eatery’s outdoor seating area, slamming the “disgraceful” amount of rubbish left behind every evening “despite the bin in our parklet and the many bins around the village”.

Cafe management revealed that they have “no problem with posting footage of the people who leave this behind” despite it not being their job to “clean up after you”.
“Please have some respect and clean up after yourself so everyone can continue to enjoy our outdoor seating area,” they asked of those who used the area.
Locals were disgusted by the amount of rubbish left behind at the premises, with one commenting on Instagram: “What is wrong with people. Simple. Put your rubbish in the bin.”
Cafe owner Jackie Feng told Dublin Live that they wanted to leave the tables and chairs there for people to enjoy after the cafe closes at 5pm, but groups of youths have been gathering and leaving their rubbish behind.
According to Jackie, the issue has been getting worse since Christmas and the cafe has now installed security cameras in an attempt to tackle the issue.
