Dublin-born TV presenter Julia Bradbury shares breast cancer journey in much-anticipated documentary

A documentary about Dublin-born TV presenter Julia Bradbury’s diagnosis with breast cancer is set to air tonight.

The hour long feature will be on ITV at 9pm and will shed a light on the household name’s breast cancer journey.

In September 2021, Julia received a shock breast cancer diagnosis with tonight’s documentary bringing viewers on an emotional road towards a life-saving single mastectomy.

The Countryfile star kept her own video diary where she explored the emotions she was feeling. The documentary looks at the effect her diagnosis had on her immediate family.

Julia took to Instagram to explain her motives behind making the documentary. She urged both female and male followers to regularly check themselves for signs of breast cancer.

She wrote: “I’m so proud of the awareness that we have been able to generate around breast cancer with this documentary.

“I had no idea about the realities, the pain, the complexities of breast cancer before my own diagnosis.

“Nothing prepares you for the emotional and physical trials of a cancer diagnosis. I have been an ambassador for cancer charities throughout my career. I’ve lost friends to this disease and both my parents had their battles with prostate and bowl cancer, and still, everything has been an unwelcome revelation.

“For every woman that’s going through a mastectomy this week (and I know of at least three) my heart goes out to you. I understand the confusion and pain ..but thank goodness for the supportive community we have.

“I urge men and women to check themselves & get checked, but most importantly don’t take your health for granted. I did.”
