Audible has partnered with Dolby Laboratories to introduce spatial sound into its content library. The novelty launched with over 40 titles already supported, including ‘The Little Mermaid’, ‘The Sandman Act III’ and the music-focused podcast ‘Maejor Frequency’. At the moment the service does not seem available yet in Italy but only in English for USA and UK.
The new collection spans several genres, including film-length productions, soundscapes, live performances and podcasts. Here is what the company said in a press release.
“The Dolby Atmos Collection celebrates and expands the possibilities of audio storytelling, showcasing the extraordinary talents of various actors, writers, directors, sound designers and other creators”
For some, the introduction of Dolby Atmos in audiobooks might seem like a big deal, but it actually has the potential to make the stories being told even more engaging when listened to with a quality sound system or a pair of high-end headphones.
“Through the ability to create multiple layers of sound and control over the directionality of different audio elements, creators can draw listeners into a deeper, richer, more realistic spatial sound experience that fully immerses them in each story.”
Dolby Atmos titles are available now to registered members and can be listened to through the Audible app on Dolby Atmos-compatible iOS and Android mobile devices. As written above at the moment the service does not seem to be active in Italy yet, but to view all the available titles, just type “Dolby Atmos” in the search bar on the Audible website or look for the Dolby Atmos logo in the Audible app.
