Disney Plus launches store with exclusive products for streaming subscribers

The streaming service Disney Plus announced the start of testing a tool that will allow subscribers to buy exclusive products from brands like Star Wars, Marvel, Disney Animation Studios, National Geographic and Pixar.

According to website information TechCrunch, purchases can be made directly on the details pages of selected movies, series and shorts on the streaming service. The store is now available for Disney Plus main profiles in the United States.

Disney’s announcement of merging streaming and shopping was first reported in September by The Wall Street Journal, which noted that the feature would rely on QR codes that would redirect viewers to the online store.

The curated collection of merchandise will tie into multiple franchises and titles, Disney says, including “Star Wars,” “Black Panther,” “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” “Frozen 2” and “Lightyear.”

Through the new feature, shoppers will have early access to products. In addition, users will be able to gain exclusive access to made-to-order merchandise, including t-shirt and hoodie designs from “Frozen 2” and “Lightyear”.

“We are excited to collaborate with shopDisney to explore how we can better serve our audiences by expanding the ways they interact with the stories and characters they love on Disney+,” Disney Plus President Alisa Bowen said in a statement.

There is still no forecast for the launch of the store in other countries, including Europe.
