A dell will make a mass layoff with 6,650 employees leaving the company. This information comes from Bloomberg, and the company issued a statement with this not very positive news. The decision was made after it recorded a 37% drop in PC sales in the last quarter of 2022.

In summary, this attitude is intended to cut costs and there are other actions that she decided to take. For example, limiting business travel, reducing expenses for outside services, and also stopping new hires. According to the manufacturer, the difficulties of the global economic scenario is the cause of this initiative.

In the tech world, Dell isn’t the only one making mass layoffs. In this sense, it is worth mentioning Spotify and also Google, which cut 12,000 employees globally. The reasons are the same as those pointed out by the manufacturer of PCs and Notebooks.

This is directly related to the scenario caused by the pandemic. When this situation began, there was a considerable increase in the purchase of equipment due to the home office. But, the exchange of these devices is not so frequent for most people and there was still a growth in device prices.

The drop is worrisome for Dell because 55% of its revenue comes from selling PCs. Nonetheless, Jeff Clarke, who is a vice president and co-chief operating officer at Dell, said the company has been through past downturns and has come back stronger. Therefore, he believes that this must be repeated.
