DC confirms full reboot in theaters, reveals film and series planning

In this Tuesday (31), DC Studios officially announced afull eboot in theaters and also revealed its film and series planning for the coming years. The news was revealed by the Co-CEO of the division, James Gunn.

The announcement of films and series that will be part of Chapter 1 of the DCU gathered some productions that had already been confirmed previously, as is the case with Batman 2. The other titles include the likes of Superman: legacy and Supergirl: woman of tomorrow.


The Flash is set to wrap up the current DC universe and the Superman reboot movie will be the first chapter of the new DCU. The long Superman: Legacy is scheduled for release on June 11, 2025, it will not be an origin story of the character.

According to screenwriter James Gunn, the Superman movie will be inserted in the new DC universe in theaters, which will be called “Gods and Monsters” in its first phase. The project will be accompanied by other productions that will arrive in the future.


The Batman Part II premieres on October 3, 2025. Further details about this film have not been released, but Matt Reeves returns as director of the feature and the screenwriter of the sequel starring actor Robert Pattinson, but the news does not stop there.

Other Batman movie from the DC universe called “The Brave and the Bold” will also be released. The hero will accompany Damian Wayne, Bruce’s son who becomes Robin. THE Reeves’ Batman universe will be separate from other DC films.

With the exception of Viola Davis, who will play Amanda Waller in the Waller series, no director or actor has yet been confirmed to be part of the DCU. Henry Cavill will not continue in the role of Superman and Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash and Shazam can keep their actors.

The DCU producers’ planning is to release two films and two series per year, but they have ensured that quality will not be sacrificed to maintain this goal. Another novelty is that the characters in some series and films can be animated.
