As Apple promised when it officially launched the new iPad models last October, DaVinci Resolve, one of the most powerful video editing and post-production tools, is officially becoming available for devices under iPadOS.
version of DaVinci Resolve for iPad OS comes with the same features that it has been offering in its application for Windows, Linux and Mac desktop computers, although the interface has been adapted to work on the touch screen and support for Apple Pencil is included as well as multi-touch trackpads like the one found in Apple’s Magic Keyboard.
Its launch reinforces Apple in its icommercial intention to position the iPad, especially the iPad Pro, as natural substitutes for desktop computers. Users will be able to start projects from scratch and import files from multiple sources, both local and from the cloud.
They will also be able to access functions of collaboration between multiple users for the same project thanks to the integration with Blackmagic CloudBlackmagic’s cloud-based solution specially designed for the film and television industry.
Likewise, some of the features have been simplified thanks to Artificial Intelligence.
In this regard, Blackmagic Design, the company behind DaVinci Resolve and Blackmagic cameras, notes that:
Tools like the Magic Mask only need a single stroke to locate and track people, features, and objects in a shot. You can make characters stand out in a low-light shot, or invert the person’s mask and stylize the background.
But Artificial Intelligence goes further by reducing time in video editing and post-production:
Intelligent reframing repurposes footage in dramatically different aspect ratios by recognizing the action in a scene and panning within it so you can quickly create square or vertical versions to post on social media. Voice isolation allows you to easily remove loud and unwanted sounds from interviews and dialogue recordings from noisy places. AI tools create fast and accurate results saving you hours of time!
While it will be compatible with any iPad tablet under iPadOS 16, Blackmagic Design recommends using iPad models with an M1 processor or later. Users can already go for the free version, although if they want to have all the features, it will be enough for them to pay $94.99 in the application to unlock all the features.
The most curious thing is that professional level applications such as Final Cut are not available for iPad.
