Steam Deck finally completed a year of release and Valve decided to celebrate the date with special news for those who already have their portable console or still want to get one at a special discount, new boot animations and much more.
Starting with the offer, Valve has announced that it will be selling the Steam Deck in its official store at 10% off until March 23, 2023, so this could be a great opportunity to secure yours.
In addition to the discount, Valve also released new Steam Deck system boot animations to celebrate its console’s birthday. Here’s how one of them turned out:
You can purchase each of the new animations in the Steam Deck points store and change between them in Settings > Personalization, a menu that will now also show your own animations that are stored in “steamui/overrides/movies/”.

In case you can’t choose just one, there’s also the new random selection option, so you’ll see a new animation every time you turn on the Steam Deck.
Valve also released a commemorative video citing several incredible milestones that the Steam Deck has achieved such as over 8,000 games with performance verified for the console, photos of users playing it posted on social media, several important updates such as intelligent fan management, performance and a lot more.
