ChromeOS prepares various camera effects for video conferences and even blurred background
ChromeOS is getting ready to natively bring the possibility of putting effects on the camera image for video conferences. In addition, there will also be the possibility to make the background of the user’s image blurry. These options were available to configure through the Google Meet app.
The novelty has not yet been confirmed by Google, but there are clues that indicate that this is close to being implemented in the system. After all, a flag was discovered in the operating system that has the name of #vc-background-blur that must have been in development for a while and refers to the blurred background effect.
Another notable reference was Portrait Relightning, which appears to be a setting enabled within another uncovered section called EffectsStreamManipulator. Also, the description of this feature makes reference to a large number of tests done on Chrome devices equipped with the latest Intel processors.
There are also possibilities for Google’s operating system to implement Auto Framing. If it is the same as in the Duo application, it is an attribute that cuts out the user’s image and adjusts itself according to their position during a videoconference call.
In any case, there is still no confirmation of any kind and it is always worth remembering that these clues may not result in an actual update. One of the latest news about the system officially released was the fact that the manufacturer started implementing keyboard and mouse tests in Android games within ChromeOS. So, Google is looking forward to bringing something concrete about new camera features.
