As we know, Chris Pratt, interpreter of Star-Lord in the Marvel movies, will voice the iconic Super Mario in the upcoming animated film of the franchise, which hits theaters in 2023.

So far, Nintendo has not revealed any preview of this film or how the actor’s interpretation of the character was, despite having confirmed that the first trailer will be revealed on the 6th. Re-Imagined Games decided to create a concept for a Super Mario game with realistic graphics with Pratt as the plumber.

We already talked here at TC about several remakes of classic games made by fans based on Unreal Engine 5, but a YouTube channel went further and decided to imagine what it would be like if Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black and Keegan -Michael Key, the actors cast to voice the animated Super Mario movie, were the stars of a game in the franchise.

Leaving aside the cartoonish look, the concept imagined by the channel uses not only a human protagonist but also the most realistic textures in blocks, scenarios and creatures defeated by Mario throughout the stages. Despite adopting the linear gameplay of the franchise, the player has greater control over the camera, which makes it easier to go through obstacles.

I’m creating a realistic remake of Super Mario Brothers with Chris Pratt as Mario! This is the EPIC Trailer for the first major update.

I’m a longtime Nintendo fan, and I’m very excited for the Illumination and Nintendo animated Super Mario movie! So I decided to do some kind of fan project while we all wait for a trailer. But then I started to wonder what it would be like if Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor-Joy, Jack Black and Keegan-Michael Key were really these characters in a realistic mushroom kingdom. It sounded like an incredibly fun idea, which is why I’m trying to make this game. With zero game development experience, I’m learning the unreal engine from scratch and picking up whatever skills I can along the way in an effort to make this a legitimately great action game!

While it’s highly unlikely that Nintendo will decide to release a game similar to this one, it’s nice to see how a more realistic concept would apply to Super Mario games.

What did you think of this concept?
