One of the city’s most famous chippers has announced it will be closed while major refurbishment work takes place behind the scenes.

Borza in Walkinstown will be closed from Friday, July 23 to Tuesday, August 3 at 4pm.

The branch in Kimmage will close on Monday, July 26 to Tuesday, August 3 as the renovations will require the complete closure of the shop.

The Dublin 12 institution’s woodfire pizza ovens are being replaced by new ones from Italy.

Borza’s management said the new ovens will mean better quality pizza for their south Dublin customers.

Ice Queen Gelato in Walkinstown will not be affected by the closures.

The Original Borza is a family run business that has been serving the community for over 52 years and have previously received a nomination for the best fish and chips in Dublin.

The team thanked their customers for their continued support in a Facebook post.

They said: “Exciting times! Can’t wait to be serving all of our lovely customers a better quality pizza.

“And while we’re at it we want to give both shops a little sprucing

“We might just take a sneaky couple of days rest too … if we can fit them in!!

“Apologies in advance for any inconvenience.

“Thank you for your continued loyal support.”
