It seems that i twists and turns concerning the Samsung Galaxy S26 series are not finished yet. After the issue relating to Galaxy S26 Edge and Galaxy S26+, in the last few hours a possible change of direction has emerged which affects Galaxy S26 Proa smartphone that may not actually exist (not with this name, at least). Furthermore, due to alleged problems, Samsung could launch the new flagship range a little later than expected so far. Let’s tidy up and go find out everything.
Samsung Galaxy S26+ coming soon, Galaxy S26 Pro… doesn’t exist
The rumors continue to change the cards on the table regarding the Galaxy S 2026 lineup: initially the arrival of the “usual” three models, called Samsung Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra, was taken for granted. Subsequently, however, the rumors pointed to the arrival of a Galaxy S26 Edge instead of the Plus model, and a Galaxy S26 Pro instead of the “base” model. Subsequent previews then indicated that in reality Samsung may have changed its mind about the Galaxy S26+: the smartphone would therefore be expected alongside its brothers.
In recent days, bad news has arrived from South Korea for those waiting for the successor to the Galaxy S25 Edge: according to reports, the poor sales results obtained by the slim model have convinced Samsung to stop production of the second generation (at least for now).
This means that there should be no Galaxy S26 Edge in the end, but instead a Galaxy S26+. In these hours further confirmations are arriving in this sense: Galaxy S26+ would appear in GSMA IMEI database with the model number SM-S947 (which was initially associated with the Edge variant).
It doesn’t end here: as mentioned earlier, the rumors pointed to the arrival of Galaxy S26 Pro instead of Galaxy S26. The latest coming from Sammobile instead they suggest that ultimately there should be no change in the series’ nomenclature: Samsung Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra will be launched. We don’t know if all this “confusion” can be attributed to conflicting rumors, or if even at Samsung they were undecided for a long time about what to do: it cannot be ruled out that the manufacturer itself may have changed course several times during development, thanks to the alleged cancellation of the new Edge model.

New cameras for Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+?
Having clarified the latest news regarding the upcoming models (if there are no further twists), the time has come to look at some previews of the photographic sector of Samsung Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+. As reported by SmartPrixthe South Korean manufacturer could be less conservative than expected.
When the name Galaxy S26 Pro appeared, it was thought that Samsung could offer important photographic updates compared to Galaxy S25, but the tests of the software versions S942BXXU0AYJ7 / S942BOXM0AYJ7 / S942BXXU0AYJ7 they instead revealed the same sensors as the latter:
- 50 MP main camera with ISOCELL S5KGN3 sensor
- 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera with Sony IMX564 sensor
- 10 MP telephoto lens with ISOCELL S5K3K1 sensor
- 12 MP front camera with ISOCELL S5K3LU sensor
However, nothing is defined yet. Samsung would also have tested these for its Galaxy S26 (and therefore Galaxy S26+). new sensors:
- 50 MP main camera with ISOCELL S5KGNG sensor (not yet announced)
- 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera with ISOCELL S5KJN3 sensor
- 12 MP telephoto lens with ISOCELL S5K3LD sensor
- front camera with Sony IMX874 sensor

A new Samsung sensor would therefore have emerged in the Galaxy S26 software ISOCELL S5KGNGwhich could replace the S5KGN3. Furthermore, the manufacturer could do with a nice camera upgrade ultra-wide anglemoving from the 12 MP Sony IMX564 to theISOCELL S5KJN3 50 MP, already used this year on Galaxy S25 Ultra. All the sensors mentioned have only been spotted on Galaxy S26 prototypes, so we don’t have clear indications yet.
Samsung may delay the launch of the Galaxy S26
This year, therefore, greater uncertainty seems to reign over the flagship Galaxy S range, including issues regarding nomenclatures, the models actually arriving and more. All this could push Samsung to postpone the launch of the Galaxy S26 seriesat least compared to what we have been used to seeing in recent years.
Based on what was reported by Techmaniacsthe Samsung Galaxy S26 series will be launched in March. It seems that the alleged problems concern the development of Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+, if these are really the names, while for Galaxy S26 Ultra everything would be well defined, with the smartphone already ready for production: the flagship model should offer a new 10-bit panel and arrive with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy SoC.
The first quarter of 2026 is still “far away”, so we are sure that we will have the opportunity to return to the topic over the next few weeks.
