Spotifyone of the main platforms for music streaming, has recently added a small “social” innovation to the version of its app dedicated to mobile devices.
In the same way as has been happening for some time with Instagram, users can now decide to share content from the platform directly on WhatsApp without leaving the app itself.
Spotify: music can now be shared directly in WhatsApp Status
Spotify is constantly looking for new methods to make its platform increasingly “social”. Over the summer, for example, the streaming giant introduced the Messages function (equivalent to Direct Messages of the various social networks) to enhance conversation and sharing between the various subscribers.
In the last few hours, however, the platform has started the release (gradual but global) of a new feature regarding external sharing. Android users, as mentioned at the beginning, can experience a new voice for sharing content from the platform on WhatsApp.
Specifically, the new entry is called Status and it’s kind of a shortcut to the sharing of a song, an album, an artist, a playlist, a podcast or an audiobook from Spotify directly in the Status Updates of the popular messaging app.
How this new sharing possibility works
Sharing content from Spotify on WhatsApp is very simple, as explained directly by the team of the streaming platform on its own Newsroomand it’s something that both “Free” users (free plan) and “Premium” users (i.e. subscribers) can do.
Just access Spotify, select the content we want to share (in the specific case of our example, a song), select the sharing icon, customize the tab with the options offered by the app and finally select the “Status” item (accompanied, only for the first time, by the wording “News”).
At this point, we will come catapulted directly within WhatsApp, ready to add a caption, make changes or share this status update directly.
The end result, in the case of a song, is one History which includes the classic sharing “card” (with title and cover), the clip of the song (where present) in the background and a few seconds of the song. When we have shared everything how Status updatethose who view it will also be greeted by a link “Open in Spotify”.
