Blocking numbers in WhatsApp will be easier and faster in future updates
Although we are still in mid-January, WhatsApp continues to advance future features. Already in the first week of this 2023 they implemented the possibility of connecting a Proxy from the application, something that will help many users to avoid the geoblocks that some territories have on WhatsApp.
Now, as revealed in WaBetaInfo, they are working on a small change that will mean much faster the process of blocking a contact without having to enter the chat. Something very useful, especially when dealing with quickly identified spam messages.
Block from the chat panel and even from notifications
If there is a classic among the classics, it is the function of blocking numbers in WhatsApp, having this possibility even if we do not have the number saved in contacts. Now, there will be two shortcuts to block them without having to enter the chats.
First it was in beta 2.23.2.4 of the Android app where the possibility of block a contact from the chat list by selecting it. This option is added to the other options already introduced in the app, such as adding a shortcut to the conversation, viewing the contact, marking the conversation as unread or selecting all the chats.

Already in beta 2.23.2.5, the most recent, the possibility of block contact from message notification. In the image that shows WABetaInfo we can see how the option to respond, block and silence appears in the notification pop-up.
It’s not that these changes are going to be revolutionary, it’s true, but we already mentioned earlier that in the end it’s about continuing to streamline processes and handle the app faster in any situation. It can be said in any case that, unless otherwise stated, the classic block option will remain (the one inside the chats).
Although these changes have not been officially released in the stable version of WhatsApp, it is expected that in future updates it will be available to everyone being already prepared in the betas of the Android app. So it will just be a matter of waiting.
