Have you ever wondered what are the best-selling smartphones of the month? There are no price or specific limits, for those we refer you to our buying guides, the only thing that matters in this top 5 is the number of sales generated in the month. So, without getting lost in a thousand words, let’s find out the five best-selling smartphones of January !
Best Selling Smartphone in January 2023?
- The Best Seller Redmi Note 11S 4G
- Second Best Seller Google Pixel 7
- Third Place Redmi Notes 10 Pro
- Fourth Place Xiaomi MI 11T Pro
- Fifth Place Samsung Galaxy M13
FIRST PLACE: REDMI NOTES 11S 4G
In first place of the best-selling smartphones we find the Redmi Note 11S in the 4G version surprisingly with 28% of the total sales of the month while the 5G version is completely absent . If we consider that the average purchase price was €195 , the difference between the two versions is not that large but the specifications of the two devices are quite different.
Without prejudice to the absence of 5G, paradoxically Redmi 11s 4G has excellent features including an AMOLED display compared to the IPS of the 5G version with a maximum refresh rate of 90Hz (like 5G). Another specification that makes the 4G model a better choice is the 108Mpx camera , practically the same as the much more expensive Redmis while the 5G version stops at the 50Mpx already seen on the basic Redmi Note 11 which are a bit disappointing in situations of low lighting.
The autonomy thanks to the fast charging at 33W and the 5000mAh is infinite: Mediatek’s Helio G96 chip does not behave badly compared to the Dimensity 810 of the 5G version.
SECOND PLACE: Google Pixel 7
In second place we find the outsider of this ranking: Google Pixel 7 and, I tell you this, it will be the only “expensive” of this special Top 5. The average purchase price was in fact equal to €610 and let’s try to understand because among all the smartphones of 2022 we find him.
The Pixel 7 takes up that concept of top of the range at the right price with some renunciations such as the telephoto lens, a sophisticated design with perhaps expensive but useless curved edges, a display at the top of the category and other quotation marks which for many users, however, may be superfluous. In all these cases, buying Pixel 7 compared to the Pro version or other top of the range allows us to save a lot but still find ourselves in hand a device that is balanced, does everything and does it quite well with some peaks of excellence for photos!
Personally I used Pixel 6 for a whole year experimenting with the Tensor which is true will not be the best SOC ever but for a social/photographic use of the smartphone it is perfect with the right compromise between consumption and performance. The difference is made by the software algorithms that allow you to take photos and record videos that can also keep up with the iPhone 13 Pro. Deserved second position with about 18% of sales.
THIRD PLACE: REDMI NOTES 10 PRO
Third place comes directly from 2021 with the Redmi Note 10 Pro which snatches about 11% of overall sales and an average price of €210 . It may seem strange but in reality it tells us a sad truth : the mid-range in the last two years have evolved so little (indeed, they have often involved) that if you find the right price, it is often better to buy those even two generations earlier!
The only big limitation of a Redmi Note 10 Pro in 2023 are the updates which inevitably are almost at the end credits but excluding this we have a full-level AMOLED display , a Snapdragon 732G which still defends itself very well and a battery of 5000mAh which behaves on par with the new Redmi! Another point that makes the Note 10 Pro similar if not almost the same as the new Redmi is the 108Mpx main camera which has evolved little in the last two years!
And would you have expected a medium-low range Xiaomi from two generations ago in this ranking?
FOURTH PLACE: XIAOMI MI 11T PRO
Total supremacy of Xiaomi thanks to the Mi 11T Pro in fourth place with 10% of overall sales . With an average price of €369, even a near-top of the range like this one from the end of 2021 still manages to have its say, thanks also to the still respectable hardware.
Analyzing the reasons why a Mi 11T Pro can still be taken into consideration we find the AMOLED FHD + display with dynamic refresh rate at 120Hz , a very fast recharge at 120W which together with the Snapdragon 888 and a 5000mAh battery allow for performance and autonomy of high, very high level.
Even the photographic sector still defends itself well if we think that smartphones in this price range are still too often without OIS while as regards the secondary cameras we do not find too much difference considering that this 11T Pro boasts an ultra-wide angle and a macro low-level secondary bedroom (a tele would have been better).
Those looking for a mid-range “on steroids” will certainly find this 11T Pro still an excellent purchase with always the lack of updates considering that we are talking about a 2021 phone.
FIFTH PLACE: SAMSUNG GALAXY A33 5G
Fifth and last place occupied by a Samsung, the Galaxy A33 5G , which tries to steal a few percentage points from Xiaomi!
The A33 5G with an average price of €220 and 10% of overall sales turns out to be an excellent purchase for those who have been used to the Samsung experience with the One UI for years and are looking for a mid-range that is both well built and runs well overall . It should be emphasized that we are faced with the only smartphone with IP67 certification in the medium / low range in this top 5 with the exception of the IP68 of the Pixel 7 which has another price positioning.
Among the various flagship features, the AMOLED FHD + display , the 48 mp main camera with OIS which together with the selfie cam with 4K video complete a noteworthy photographic package are certainly worth mentioning. Finally, the presence of a SOC Exynos 1280 allows you to run the system more than worthily. Finally, the fingerprint reader under the display and stereo audio should not be overlooked . Impossible not to say that at this price it is one of the most complete smartphones that could be bought but … would you have ever recommended it?
FIFTH PLACE: GALAXY M13 4G
In “last position” as an extra , the Galaxy M13 4G should be noted which, with 7% of sales and an average price of €149, demonstrates how phones under €200 are still sought after even if we are dealing with a product that is a few years old does. The V-shaped Notch around the IPS display , the 60Hz refresh rate , the 4GB of RAM together with the 64GB of EMMC storage are just some of the somewhat “old-fashioned” features of this Galaxy M13 4G.
On the camera side, excluding the 50MP JM1 main sensor, we can only rely on the 5MP ultrawide which can be used mostly for emergencies. Unfortunately the Exynos 850 is taken verbatim from the previous M12 and begins to feel the weight of the years even if the 5000 mAh battery guarantees excellent autonomy.
And would you have expected an M13 4G in the standings, albeit outside the top 5 positions?
PLEASE NOTE: the sales data refer to the month of January 2023 and concern purchases made by HDblog readers on Amazon.it. However, the sample examined is large enough to represent a realistic cross-section of the market.
