The Ubisoft Forward 2023 event was held today with several announcements and one of them includes a lot of news about “Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora“, which finally got a release date, story and gameplay trailer showing several of its combat mechanics and even flight.

Starting with the story, players will be able to explore the brand new Western Frontier region of Pandora, which has not yet been shown in theaters.

The game will be set 15 years after the first film in the franchise and players will live in the shoes of a Na’vi:

Kidnapped by the militaristic human corporation known as the RDA, you, a Na’vi, have been trained and molded to serve your purpose. Fifteen years later, you are free but find yourself a stranger in your birthplace. Reconnect with your lost heritage, discover what it really means to be Na’vi, and join other clans to protect Pandora from the GDR.

Ubisoft details that the game will have two modes: single player or cooperative, where two friends can play together to explore Pandora and protect it from GDR forces.

The gameplay video shows more details indicating how the player will be able to use weapons, animals and the strength of the Na’vi and humans to fight to protect and discover more about Pandora.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora launches for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on December 7, 2023. The game was originally slated for a 2022 release, but was delayed as Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated that the game needed to be released as “something that’s perfect”.
