Announced at the end of last year, Apple’s self-service repair service already includes parts and manuals for several iPhone models and this Monday (22), the brand is also expanding its reach to Macbooks Air and Pro.

This means that starting this Tuesday, users of the brand’s notebooks with M1 chips will be able to obtain repair manuals and buy genuine Apple parts and tools through self-service stores (available in the US). Apple says the service will offer more than a dozen different types of repairs for each model, including the screen, top case with battery and trackpad, with more to come in the future.

In the case of Macbooks, the program will work in the same way that it already works with iPhones 12 and 13, forcing customers to read the repair manuals carefully before visiting official stores to buy necessary parts and tools.

Apple offers rental repair kits for US$ 49 (~R$ 250) for customers who don’t want to buy tools for a single repair, giving them access to a tool kit for one week, with free shipping. Customers can send defective parts back to Apple for repairs or recycling, as well as being credited to customers.

The brand reaffirmed that the program will expand to other countries later this year, starting in Europe.

“For the vast majority of customers who are not experienced in repairing electronic devices, visiting a professional repair supplier with certified technicians who use genuine Apple parts is the safest and most reliable way to get a repair,” the company added.
