Rumored for months if not even years, it seems that finally Apple is beginning to finish focusing its idea for what it will be his first mixed reality headset, which could arrive as a standalone or “stand alone” device, completely eliminating the need for not just wired connectivity, but even a computer, being able to work completely autonomously.

In analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s latest research report shared by MacRumors and 9to5Mac, the analyst said that the device will have a main processor with the same computing power as the M1 chip and a secondary processor to handle all sensor-related computing. With both processors in place, there will be no need to connect the headphones to an iPhone or Mac.

In this way, this helmet will be able not only to provide augmented reality experiences, but also virtual ones. Some experiences backed by its two Sony 4K Micro OLED displays backed by this proprietary chipset, with the necessary power to support the screens. And it seems that finally Apple would have taken a step back from the first rumored 8K screens.

However, it does not stop emphasizing that these new Kuo predictions are postulated against previous rumors such as the one shared by The Information, who assured last September that this mixed reality headset would need to communicate wirelessly with an iPhone or iPad. , or a computer, to handle most of your computing.

In fact, previous advances, such as that of the note for the company’s investors, told us that the new mixed reality glasses will feature WiFi 6E connectivity technology to deliver the highest bandwidth with the best latency, while the requirement for a wired connection to a computer is eliminated. In addition, this connectivity will also mean more capacity, more speed and less traffic, allowing transmissions of up to 120 Hz.

According to Kuo, Apple will begin production of these mixed reality headsets in the fourth quarter of 2022, and although for the moment it has not wanted to get wet when it comes to giving us a date for the public announcement of the product. On the other hand, the analyst also affirms that the headphones will be aimed at developers and creators, so their price will be significantly higher than what we could initially expect, being able to reach $ 3,000.

Finally, to mention again that a project parallel to the development of Apple Glasses, designed for the general public, which is expected to be presented in advance during the coming months.
