The Apple Watch may gain iOS-like widgets with the arrival of watchOS 10. Supposedly, widgets will be a “core part” of the next release of the operating system.

With the feature, you will be able to scroll through different widgets to get an overview of vital information at a glance.

Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman revealed more details about the watchOS 10 widget system in the latest issue of his Power On newsletter.

According to him, the new system will combine the “old watchOS Glances system and widget style” introduced in iOS 14. Users can apparently scroll through the widgets to get an overview of their calendar appointments, stock market updates, weather, etc., without opening the app.

The widgets interface will look like the Siri watch face introduced in watchOS 4. But unlike the latter, you can overlay widgets on any watch face. And similar to iOS, you can stack multiple widgets on top.

Apple is also testing changing the function of some buttons on the Apple Watch. Pressing the Digital Crown can open widgets in watchOS 10 instead of opening the app shelf.

The company plans to make these changes to give users faster access to important information. This would be possible with widgets as users would not need to open a dedicated app every time.

Gurman believes that Apple can make the new interface optional to make the transition less jarring for users.

Other rumors suggest that watchOS 10 will bring the biggest overhaul of the operating system since its inception. Apple is focusing on software this year, as the 2023 Apple Watch models won’t have major hardware changes.

As always, everything is just a rumor, but what do you think of this possible news?
