Apple recently announced the release date and pricing for the new Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch Pro in Europe, but it seems the new devices aren’t performing as they should.
Through various reports on Apple’s support forums, we found that many users are having problems with the microphones of the new smartwatches.
According to new Apple Watch users, many are unable to use the microphone while on a call or to activate Siri. Also, when using the Noise app, many get an error message that says “Measure Suspended”.
Apple hasn’t publicly commented on the microphone issues yet, but MacRumors was able to access an internal company memo that confirms the issue. The document recommends that affected users reset their watch as a stopgap measure. Anyway, the problem reappears after a few days.
Apple also says that the watch must be up to date with the latest version of WatchOS. This indicates that the release of a new version of WatchOS 9 will be released soon to fix the problem, as the document points out that the problem does not come from the hardware.
So far, the Cupertino giant has already released watchOS 9.0.1 since the launch of the Watch Series 8 and Ultra models. This release fixes a bug for audio distortion in audio calls through the watch’s built-in speaker.
Apple is also beta testing iOS 16.1 and watchOS 9.1, but we don’t know if they will fix the microphone issues on the new Apple Watch.
As always, we can only wait for the release of the definitive solution as soon as possible.
