Apple on Tuesday released the Release Candidate for iOS 16.4, iPadOS 16.4, macOS 13.3, watchOS 9.4 and tvOS 16.4. Also, there is a new beta version available for iOS and iPadOS 15.7.4. Updates can be installed by developers enrolled in the big tech testing program.

The “release candidate” versions indicate that the updates are in an advanced stage of development and corrections of any problems, therefore, may be released to all users stably soon.

For phones and tablets not eligible for iOS and iPadOS 16, Apple must ensure the safety of users of older models with iOS 15.7.4 and iOS 15.7.4. The manufacturer also released the Release Candidate for Studio Display 16.4 and Xcode 14.3.

For iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV, builds have the following build numbers:

The release of Release Candidates follows the availability of iOS 4 beta and iPadOS 16.4, macOS 13.3, watchOS 9.4 and tvOS 16.4. The stable update should be released simultaneously to all iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV users.

Among the main new features of iOS 16.4, it is possible to highlight support for 31 new animal emojis, hearts in new colors and much more. The update should also enable the “pure 5G” connection on iPhones in Europe, push notifications for web applications and the Pay Later installment service.

For macOS 13.3 Ventura, watchOS 9.4 and tvOS 16.4, Apple will focus on bringing stability improvements to eligible devices, in addition to fixing any security holes that will be detailed on its official website.

Developers who are running the trial version of the software will receive new builds automatically. For end users, it is possible that the update be released next week. In parallel, Apple is working on the development of iOS 17 with changes to meet the requirements of antitrust bodies in Europe.
