A few hours after the rollout of beta 5 for developers, the public beta 3 from iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura, watchOS 9, and tvOS 16 intended for all fans who have preferred to try out Apple’s new operating systems. Beta 5 dev and beta 3 public are essentially the same firmware, so we report the return after 5 years of the percentage inside the battery icon in the status bar, a novelty that has caused a lot of discussion on the web in the past few hours.

We can confirm that on the iPhone 13 mini with iOS 16 beta 3 publishesjust as it was reported with beta 5 dev, the option in the settings to enable is missing the percentage in the battery icon, therefore iPhone XR, iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 mini should also be excluded, due to – probable – the small display and the low pixel density compared to the most recent iPhones.

It remains to be understood if on these iPhones Apple will find a way to solve it in some way or it will also keep the previous icon without percentage stable on iOS 16, confirming a discrepancy that Cupertino perfectionists are usually unwilling to accept.

For the rest, iOS 16 beta 3 publishes no other news of particular interest, if not some concerning the lock screen, some new options for the background and the classic performance improvements and bug fixes, which become increasingly important in view of the launch of the stable version which will arrive in September with the iPhone 14.

HOW TO INSTALL THE PUBLIC BETA OF IOS / IPADOS 16

To try the public betas of iOS 16 or iPadOS 16 you must first install the appropriate configuration profile. Just open this page directly from your iPhone or iPad and follow the installation instructions. A few minutes after finishing the process, just go on Settings, General, Software update where the latest public beta available for installation should be proposed: from this point on, proceed as you would with any other stable firmware. The procedure is similar also for the public betas of the other operating systems, the configuration profile to be installed varies: you can find them at the link in STREET.
