Apple will cancel or postpone the mass production of the iPhone SE 4 scheduled for 2024.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said today in a series of tweets. Kuo said who believes Apple will delay or cancel the device due to lower-than-expected sales of more affordable models like the iPhone SE 3, iPhone 13 mini, and iPhone 14 Plus.

Kuo also said that the all-screen design Apple has in mind for the iPhone SE 4 will require higher costs and retail prices, so Apple may have to “reconsider product positioning and return on investment” for iPhone SE 4.

Cutting unnecessary product development costs will also help Apple get around the “challenges of the global economic recession in 2023”.

Multiple rumors have suggested that Apple is working on a new version of the iPhone SE, and that the device will be released in 2024. Apple is developing a device that could look similar to the iPhone XR, with an all-screen design that dispenses with the Touch ID home button and instead adopts Face ID or Touch ID on the power button.

Rumors indicated that the iPhone SE 4 could have a 6.1-inch LCD or OLED screen, along with a notch at the top much like the current iPhone 14 models.

Apple’s plans for the iPhone SE 4 haven’t come to fruition, and earlier this year, Apple analyst Ross Young said Apple hadn’t decided between an OLED or LCD display for the device.
