Apple has been planning for some time to direct most of its devices to integrate OLED panels and for which it has been working for some time, supposedly already developing external 32-inch OLED monitors and another 42-inch one. At least this is reported by an analyst report from Omdia research firm looking at what could be the company’s long-term path.

Apple’s OLED screens in the future

The report I shared OLED-info and MacRumors it is somewhat different from others that followed it. Especially because of the company’s plans to announce the MacBook OLED soon. Likewise, there are other reports that mention the MacBook Air as the first Mac device that can finally include OLED panels, although the stipulated date would be at least 2024. The analysis that Omdia originated thinks that The Cupertino company will not carry out the OLED panel for the MacBook until 2026 and presenting it as a Pro version.

Now, regarding another company device, the iPad also enters this report as far as other sources refer it. Omdia indicated that Apple will start the OLED stage with the iPad until the year 2024 launching the iPad Pro OLED. The report mentions that the company will phase out LCD and miniLED panels by 2026.

Although it seems that Apple’s original plan also includes external screens. The current process is related to the 27-inch Studio Display next to the 32-inch Pro Display XDR, since both devices do not have mini-LED or OLED display technology.

The Omdia report goes on to talk about Apple’s possible path forward by developing some external OLED displays in 2027. Among which the 32-inch versions will be available along with another with dimensions of up to 42 inches. There is still nothing concrete about whether they will be independent external screens like the Pro Display XDR and Studio Display versions were. They could even be screens that would arrive for the iMac.

Finally, There is nothing concrete about this rumor, so it remains to take it with a grain of salt with what it indicates. Especially because of the date so far away and with the constant changes in sudden plans of Apple. The company could change the route or just not continue with the plan for 32 and 42-inch OLED screens.
