O Apple Airtag got a new one firmware update with the arrival of an anti-stalking feature. That is, a characteristic that can help people not to be persecuted or watched. This update is the 2.0.24 that arrived in November, but it was only in December that it finally reached 100% of apple devices.
The measure, called ‘Precision Fiding‘, causes the iPhone to warn the user if an unknown item is near it. For example, if the tag linked to another device is placed in the person’s bag, their smartphone will issue a warning that the device is traveling with them.
This update serves, then, to prevent the AirTag from being used as a pursuit tool, taking advantage of the tracking tool to find out where someone is. In fact, there have been cases of women suing their ex-partners for using the item to track them.
The update, however, is only available for the version iOS 16.2 and use is restricted to models from the iPhone 11. In addition, another update has arrived for the tracking device, version 2.0.36. But, it doesn’t bring big news beyond the correction for a problem in the product’s accelerometer.
To check which firmware version your AirTag is on, all you need to do is ‘Search‘ and look for the device among your paired items. This way, it will be possible to check this and other details about it, such as its serial number, for example.
