If the Zeiss logo is emblazoned on a smartphone, you expect an extra dose of camera quality. We test whether the Vivo X80 Pro meets this expectation.

With the X80 Pro, Vivo makes no secret of the fact that the focus is on the camera. The camera element takes up about a third of the back of the smartphone, and it also shines like a mirror. The rest of the back consists of satinised, finely shimmering glass, which hardly accepts fingerprints due to the matt surface. Special glass from the German manufacturer Schott is used to protect the display, and Vivo also applies a protective film.

The OLED screen displays 3200 × 1400 pixels. In the delivery state, however, the screen content is scaled down to 2400 × 1080 as long as the full resolution is not activated. The smartphone regulates the refresh rate dynamically up to a maximum of 120 Hz. We have a brightness of 712 cd/m² in normal use2 measured, which is enough for good readability even in the light, but other smartphones do significantly more.
