One of the most important announcements from Microsoft in recent years was the one that told us, during the presentation of Windows 11, that the operating system would support the native execution of Android applications. The two systems dramatically increased their interoperability with this run while the supply of these apps would run on Amazon’s side, although they can be installed independently.

Now, Microsoft has announced that Windows 11 will begin its deployment on October 5 and although compatibility with Android will not arrive until 2022, users of the Windows Insider program have more information. The documentation and download link have been sent to them at the app that will be in charge of bringing Android to Windows 11: the new Windows Sybsystem for Android.

Windows Subsystem for Android

It is possible that this compatibility between systems could have occurred in the past, at some point in the life of Windows 10, which is still the main system of the company. This is because Windows already incorporated a small Linux heart inside with your Windows Subsystem for Linux. And now, for Android, the same nomenclature will be used.

The app is not yet public but the download link from the Windows Store has already been sent to members of the Insider program, and its presence in the Windows Store guarantees that it can be updated independently of the system itself. That is, everything points to we will have faster and constant updates than Windows 11 itself.

The new WSA or Windows Subsystem for Android will be in charge of running Android apps when we install them on Windows 11, either from the Amazon AppStore or from apk files on our own (we don’t know anything about compatibility with Android Application Bundles). In the leaked documentation, as it is still confidential, some information is also revealed about its minimum requirements: we will need at least 8GB of RAM, although Microsoft recommends 16GB, and have ARM64 or x64 architecture.
