About two weeks after launching the last beta 4, Google has finally launched a new intermediate version 4.1 which will aim to correct certain bugs on pixel smartphones. No new features are plannedsince the software reached platform stability with the rollout of the third beta in June, which means that Google is currently only focused on fixing bugs.

As a reminder, Pixel smartphone users were able to test Android 13 since the release of the first public beta last April. After several months of successive updates, the new version of Google’s operating system should finally be available to everyone in a stable version in just a few weeks. It’s possible that Google rolls out the stable version by September 2022, just before the new Pixel 7 and 7 Pro arrive in October.

What changes on Android 13 beta 4.1?

In the patch notes, we discover that the previous betas of Android 13 still housed connectivity bugs with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, but also in its Meet video application and with GPS. Here is the detail of all the fixes brought by the update:

  • Fixed an issue that prevented an app from enabling or disabling Bluetooth if it did not have the BLUETOOTH_CONNECT permission, even if the app targeted an API level where this permission is not required.
  • Fixed issues that sometimes caused a device to crash and reboot when connecting to certain Wi-Fi networks.
  • Fixed an issue where encounter connectivity could be interrupted while driving.
  • Fixed an issue where the system could incorrectly interpret GPS data.

The build is currently in deployment as TPB4.220624.008, and the new OTA files are already available for the Pixel 4, Pixel 4a, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a and Pixel 6 ranges. We notice that the beta is strangely not available for the Pixel 6a, which has just been launched a few days ago on the market. If you are in the Android Beta program, this update should arrive on your device within the next few days.
