Amazon and Disney officially announce the launch of Hey Disney!, the personalized virtual assistant based on Alexa technology, available to those Americans who have purchased their annual subscription with automatic renewal in the Alexa Skills Store, for $5.99 per year, or have an Amazon Kids+ subscription, for $4.99 a month or $48 a year, which also integrates it, being able to enjoy the new assistant on most Echo devices.

In this regard, users will not be able to enjoy the personalized assistant on Fire Tablets, Fire TV devices, Echo Show 15″ smart displays, as well as the first generation Echo speaker and Echo Auto devices.

Many interactions to perform with more than 20 characters

Amazon highlights that Hey Disney! is the first Alexa Custom Assistant (ACA) available for compatible Echo devices for clients in the home and features a variety of content with more than 20 characters at your disposal from franchises like Disney, Pixar , Star Wars, among others.

Customers will be able to carry out regular simple requests for attendees, although they will also be able to enjoy an infinite number of personalized experiences, including games, jokes, greetings, among other options, although customers will not always have the option to choose which character to carry out with. the interactions, which will depend on the requests that are made.

In this way, the responses will be carried out through the requested characters, or if this is not possible, through the voice of Disney Magical Companion itself, Amazon highlights that:

The Disney Magical Companion introduces a new way to bring Disney’s expansive storytelling to life for fans of all ages at home, providing magical answers to everyday things like the weather, timers and alarms, as well as entertainment like Disney Trivia, storytelling from stories, interactive adventures with characters, and more.

Simple steps to get started

For the purchase and configuration, customers have to indicate to Alwxa the following instruction: “Alexa, introduce me to Hey Disney.”, and once the purchase is made and the experience is enabled, to begin with, all you have to do is indicate: “Hey Disney , start the magic” for an introduction to how the Disney Magical Companion works together with Alexa.

As you remember in TechCrunch, Hey Disney! It had already existed since 2021, only that it was available to customers staying at Disney World Resort hotels, allowing them to receive specific questions about the facilities, as well as being able to request a series of services.

A launch that comes after a new controversy against privacy

However, the home version that now arrives differs in some aspects from the one offered in Disney hotels, where parental consent will be required, and they must also take care of managing voice recordings of their children. In the version for hotels, it is not possible to save the recordings of voice interactions.

Hey Disney! It comes now just after the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) fined Amazon $25 million for violating the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act Rule.
