If you want to know what information the messaging app has about you and what it saves, you can request that they give you information about your account. Although it is not the best known or most used function, it is possible to find it easily, so we will tell you how to get to it and carry out this process. First of all, you should know that this report will not include your messages, so if this is what you want to know, you will have to do it in another way.

What steps must we follow to request the WhatsApp report in the app

• We open the app on our mobile
• We touch on the button menu
• We came in Settings
• Next, we select the option Account
• And finally, we touch on Request info. from my account

Within a few 3 days, we will receive a notification to know that we already have the report available. You will not be able to cancel the request once you have confirmed it. It will appear that the request has been sent and the day it will be ready. You will have a few weeks to download it once it is available, after this time you will have to request it again. If, during the time that elapses from when we request our account information and the report is available, we delete our WhatsApp account, change our device, or re-register our account, the request will be automatically canceled and we will have to request a new one.

Download the report

As soon as the requested information is available, we will receive a notification by the messaging application on our mobile indicating that the report of our account is available. Therefore, we can now proceed with its download as follows:

• we open WhatsApp on mobile
• From the app menu we are going to Settings
• Next, we enter the option Account
• we touch on Request info. from my account
• And then, Download report.

Automatically, it will start downloading a file in format .ZIP on our device. Inside, we will find two files, one in format HTML and other JSON. We can open the HTML with the browser itself, while we will have to export the JSON to open it with another application. For this, we can send us a copy of the file by email to download it to our PC and be able to open it later. Basically, the information is the same as what is displayed when we open the HTML, so there is no need to open the JSON file either. And we will have all the content stored.

what information is there

As soon as we open the report, we will see that it is divided into four sections, user information, service conditions, registration information and settings. The first section we come across is user informationand undoubtedly the most important. Among the most relevant data are:

• Date on which we have requested the report
• Our phone number
• Account name
• current ip
• Operating system of our mobile
• whatsapp version that we have installed
• OS version
• Manufacturer of our smartphone and device model
• Profile picture at the time of requesting the report
• Update date of the profile picture
• List of all numbers phone number of our contacts
• Name of all whatsapp groups to whom we belong

In the section Conditions of service we will find dates on which we accept the conditions of service, while, within registration informationwe can find information about the platform of our phone, the operator that supplies us with the network or the name of the device.
