OPPO has presented its new range of folding smartphones, the Find N3 and the Find N3 Flip, with which it aims to become the reference.
The alliance between OPPO and OnePlus has taken a new step today, and will be more evident than ever. There are only a few hours left until the presentation of the first OnePlus foldable, but in a way, we have already been able to see it thanks to OPPO.
And it is expected that the new OPPO Find N3 will be basically the same mobile as the OnePlus Open, as part of the new joint strategy; Let us remember that both brands belong to the BBK group, along with Vivo and Realme, and we had already seen how they shared technical advances and software.
Now we see the next step of this strategy, launching the same leading mobile phone with different brands; something that is very common in Chinese manufacturers in low ranges, but somewhat rarer in high ranges where exclusivity is more important.
Therefore, we must clarify a very important detail: OPPO has confirmed that the OPPO Find N3 will not arrive in Spain, so everything indicates that OPPO and OnePlus will share the markets instead of competing directly. On the other hand, that does not mean that Spanish users will not receive anything from OPPO; The company has also presented the OPPO Find N3 Flip, whose previous generation was launched in Spain, although there is no confirmation that this new model will be.
Once this is clear, we can review the OPPO Find N3, a device that will soon be very familiar. This is OPPO’s new folding model that will compete directly against the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, and therefore, it has an exterior screen and a larger interior screen. Specifically, in this generation the internal screen is based on a 7.82 inch LTPO OLED panel and 2K resolution, capable of varying the refresh rate between 1 and 120 Hz and with a brightness of 2800 nits. For its part, the exterior screen will be 6.3 inches, also using OLED technology and with FHD+ resolution; Although it is also LTPO, the refresh rate can vary between 10 Hz and 120 Hz.
The big novelty in this generation is the reduction in weight (239 grams in its leather version and 245 grams in its glass version) and thickness (5.8 mm), partly thanks to a new hinge design that reduce the number of parts necessary by a third compared to the last generation. That, and the use of steel and liquid zirconium alloy, which maintains greater stability in the hinge while allowing the screen to be left flatter. OPPO has received TÜV Rheinland certification that it is capable of withstanding one million opening and closing cycles.
Despite the smaller thickness, OPPO is betting on the most powerful hardware, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 accompanied by 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage. The battery is 4,805 mAh with 67W fast charging, but without wireless charging. As far as ‘software’ is concerned, it uses Android 13 with ColorOS 13.2, with the promise that it will receive updates to receive the next three generations of Android. The ColorOS version used is optimized for the big screenwith a global taskbar, multitasking with two apps at the same time, a floating screen, and a “limitless view” that allows you to have two or three apps open at the same time horizontally.
For photography, we rely once again on the alliance with Hasselblad, whose logo appears large on the set of cameras. He highlights that this mobile debuts the new LYTIA-T808 sensor from Sony, with a new double-layer pixel architecture that promises greater sensitivity to light and, in turn, greater image quality despite having ‘only’ 48 Mpx. It is accompanied by another 48 Mpx sensor, this one a wide angle with a 14 mm f/2.2 lens, and a 64 Mpx sensor with 3x optical zoom and 6x hybrid zoom.
In China, the OPPO Find N3 will start at 9,999 yuan (1,294 euros). It will also be available in other countries, although not in Spain.
On the other hand, it would be rarer if the Find N3 Flip did not arrive in Spain, although the company has not been able to give more details to EL ESPAÑOL – El Androide Libre for now. This is the clamshell-shaped foldable, which will be an alternative to the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
This new model continues the market trend, expanding the size of the rear screen and making it occupy practically the entire height of the rear, leaving room for the set of cameras. This external screen is now 3.26 inches, with a resolution of 720 x 382 pixels, and allows you to run apps such as WhatsApp, Gmail or Google Maps and use it for video calls or selfies. For its part, the interior screen is 6.8 inches with a resolution of 2560 x 1080 pixels.
The hinge has also received improvements, and is now splash resistant with IPX4 protection. A curious detail is the FlexForm modewhich allows you to leave the hinge at an angle of between 45 and 120 degrees, which allows you to leave the mobile phone as a tripod to take photos or video calls without having to hold it with your hand.
Inside, a MediaTek Dimensity 9200 processor accompanied by 12 GB of RAM, which makes it clear that this device is not aimed at the same type of user as the Find N3. This is also noticeable in the cameras, although despite that it has a 50 Mpx main sensor with OIS and an f/1.8 aperture, accompanied by a 48 Mpx wide angle and a 32 Mpx telephoto with 2x zoom. The battery is 4300 mAh.
