Bono’s wife Ali Hewson admitted the couple didn’t want any of their kids to go into showbiz – but said there was no stopping them.

However, the mother of four added she’s proud to watch her rocker son, Inhaler frontman Elijah, 20, transform into his showman dad on stage.

Ali is also mother to businesswoman Jordan, 30, John, 18, and 28-year-old actress Eve.

Asked if she sees another rock star in the making in her eldest son, she told Dublin Live: “Possibly, we will see. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

“I am just so happy for them, each one of them, you just hope they find their way and this is his first love and it is great to see him find his way.”

Speaking at a lunch for Chernobyl Children International, the charity’s patron has been shocked to see Elijah turn into a rock star.

She said: “He is the shiest boy and he turned into a frontman and I don’t know how it happened. But he found his thing and it is great to see each of them find their way because it is not easy for any kid to make his way through this complicated system that is going on.”

And despite U2 fans showing their support for his band, Ali said there is little chance of them seeing him perform on the same stage as his legendary dad any time soon. Revealing Eli wants to steer clear from his father’s spotlight, she said: “No, he is definitely separate.”

Elijah isn’t the only budding star in the family, with his eldest sister Jordan making the Forbes 30 Under 30 list last year and his screen star sister Eve taking the acting world by storm.

When asked if she would have preferred her kids to choose a life out
of the limelight, Ali admitted: “Of course I didn’t want them going into showbiz, it was the last thing I wanted them to do.”
