There is much evidence that Apple has had a foldable iPhone on the drawing board for years. But the company held its ground until the flexible displays will pass the prototype phase. The latest folding from Samsung show that the technology has finally matured to the point where a iPhone Fold it could become a hit in the foldable phone market.
This surely hasn’t escaped Apple’s attention, which is probably why a Foldable iPhone in 2023.
Foldable phones out of the prototype stage
Samsung fanboys are quick to point out that folding phones have been on the market for years. What they do not point out is that they were a real disgrace. It is not new that Samsung is a company that has a history of major failures.
That said, the idea It was great, but the flexible displays just weren’t ready yet, despite Samsung’s willingness to charge customers nearly $ 2,000 for deeply flawed prototype models.
But the South Korean company continued working. And then the Galaxy Z Flip 3, which began reaching customers in late August. Cnet calls it “The first folding that you really want to buy”. For his part CNN said it is “A normal smartphone that just folds.”
That said, not all the details have been fixed yet. There is literally a crease where the screen folds. But Tom’s Guide said: “The visible crease is by no means a deciding factor”. Other analysts made similar comments. So people who have actually used a Z Flip 3 they are not so critical.
While there are other problems with the phone, these are the result of mistakes Samsung’s designers made with the camera and batteries. Manzana it will surely do a better job.
The foldable iPhone makes sense for Apple
It is impossible to argue that Apple is not researching a foldable iPhone. They have been given patent after patent which are directly related to flexible telephones.
Still, Cupertino hasn’t turned all of that research into a device with a flexible display. Anyone looking at Samsung’s first great deals in this category can easily see why. But the latest folding screens show that an iPhone Fold can be possible in a short time.
And apparently Apple is preparing to make its move. The respected TF International Securities analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo, which has numerous sources in Apple’s component supply chain, predicts that an 8-inch foldable iPhone could launch in 2023. And Kuo is optimistic about the device, saying that Apple could ship 15 to 20 million units in that year.
Two years will bring even more improvements to the technology. And the overtime won’t give Samsung an irrefutable advantage – that’s an argument people tried to make about Samsung’s early leadership in 5G networks. Fast forward a few years and now Apple dominates the 5G market.
A little look at the iPhone Flip
As a preview of things to come, this is Ran Avni’s concept for a iOS model with a foldable phone design, something similar to the classic Motorola Razr. Analyst Jon Prosser says this is the base design that favors Apple.
