6g is coming: china tests and achieves 300 gbps downloads

Get ready for an even faster connection, because 6G is on the way and China is surprising with the results it has obtained so far. In the last few hours, news has arrived of how Chinese specialists have managed to make wireless transmission at the THz frequency level, reaching a powerful download speed of 300 Gbps. Meanwhile, the United States and Spain are preparing their own progress so as not to be left behind in the race for 6G.

It may not have been long since you launched a 5G connection, but you already know that wireless network technology advances in giant steps. And the 6G system is already beginning to give very good surprises. From China, they have revolutionized the news by managing to work in the terahertz band, something that would mean significant progress for the sector. Other initiatives that we will talk about now are also making their own progress.

China takes the lead

This test has been carried out from China in the last hours in which the objective was to verify if the progress made in the terahertz frequencies were bearing fruit. AND the results are promisingso the whole world is already looking at the Chinese specialists to see how they continue to work on this very high-speed technology.

It must be said that the system is still in the testing process and, therefore, it is not intended to reach the maximum level of speed, but what is important is see if you can work with the THz frequency. Therefore, the test that was carried out was at a data rate of 100 Gbps. The results were good, since a download speed of up to 300 Gbps was generated, which could be even higher. The industry is aware that the THz band is the future of wireless connections and that is why it is being explored so actively. To understand it better, think that with a 5G network you can achieve 10 Gbps and that today it is still very common to even create 1 Gbps fiber home networks.

But there is still a lot of work to do. The THz frequency has obstacles to overcome, since in a practical way it faces challenges similar to those faced by 5G. For example, it is a type of signal that finds it difficult to pass through fog and clouds and, on the other hand, does not have the ability to travel great distances. But, at the same time, with terahertz you can provide a level of wireless performance that is at the forefront of the market.

In the tests carried out by the Chinese team in charge of the project, results have been achieved that, analyzed in parallel, can give download speeds higher than those offered by 5G that we all know. It is because of this that it is believed that the THz frequency will be the key to 6G and what will make the new standard become a technology that changes everything again. However, it is still too early to draw conclusions, since China believes that it will be ready by 2030. If its expectations are met, using the 6G network will guarantee downloads 100 times faster than what we get with a 5G network.

The United States and Spain are also progressing

In the United States they have reacted quickly to the news coming from China. The White House has organized a meeting with the leaders of the telecommunications industry, with the main specialists and with the most important entities to be able to start acting. They are seeing how China is moving forward in a remarkable way and how there are other countries that, like South Korea, promise that they will even have their technology ready before: in 2028. Therefore, they do not want to be left behind.

For its part, the Enable-6G project has been presented in Spain, in which Telefónica as well as BluSpecs and NEC Corporation participate in collaboration with IMDEA research centers. Its goal is to pave the way for the challenge of 6G network adoption with the intention of ensuring that this technology will provide greater data privacy, energy efficiency, and a higher level of adaptability. In this way, society will be able to enjoy added technology and have the guarantee that it will provide both the highest possible level of protection and a respectful profile with the environment.

The companies that are part of Enable-6G are clear what the future arrival of 6G connections will mean. Because the entry into the 5G market has opened up many possibilities, but some sectors are still limited by this connectivity. With the arrival of 6G, the limitations will end and all kinds of projects that are still taking their first steps today will be able to be carried out in their maximum splendor. This includes smart cities that will be managed in an advanced way with all kinds of resources, more dynamic autonomous cars or remote surgery in hospitals. For all this, better support than 5G is still needed and everything indicates that 6G networks are going to be the solution. For now, the results of the test that we have told you about confirm this, but we will have to remain attentive to see how this technology matures.
